So Christmas is over and, if you’re anything like me, you’ll have eaten all the food and be feeling a bit bloaty and lethargic? I find January rolls around and, with it, a feeling that I need to reassess my diet after all the excess of the festive season. So, with that in mind, I’ve put together five healthy family recipes that aren’t difficult to make, contain plenty of good stuff to counteract all the chocolate and mince pies, and that all the family will love.

1. Pasta Bolognese
This is an absolute fave in our family and I learned to cook it from my Dad. We have it at least once a week (sometimes more with leftovers, oh, and it’s lovely fried up for breakfast!), usually with pasta, but the bolognese is also yummy with a jacket potato, or the kids have it with rice.
2. Chicken Curry
This mild, but tasty chicken curry is based on a Slimming World recipe, so it’s low in calories and fat, but delicious enough to not notice! Another one the kids love, especially Small, who is notoriously fussy.
3. Slow Cooker Beef Casserole
I’ve been making this recipe for years, and before I had a slow cooker I used a casserole dish in the oven. It’s a lovely, hearty recipe for a cold, miserable winter evening and is delicious served with rice, mash, jacket potato or just fresh crusty bread!
4. Turkey Meatballs in Tomato Sauce
This is an easy meal to make, but using turkey meat means it’s healthy too. We like ours with spaghetti, but they’d be delicious with rice too. Click here for the recipe!
5. Cottage Pie
Another family favourite, this cottage pie is packed full of veg and is so tasty! We usually serve it with some cauliflower and broccoli on the side.
So, now you have some tasty, healthy family recipes to kickstart your new year! What are your favourite family meals? Let me know in the comments!
