Each December for the last three years, Big and Small have been visited by a scout elf from the North Pole. If you haven’t heard of the ‘Elf on the Shelf‘ tradition,
you have been living under a rock! you can find out more here. It’s a marmite thing – you either love it or you hate it, and there are plenty of haters! But, for those of us who ‘believe’ (wink wink), it can be a way to make the run-up to Christmas fun for the kids and more bearable for us parents, as their minds are taken off presents and the Big Day while they concentrate on where the elf will be and what he will be doing.
Here is what our elf, Chippy, and his new apprentice Snowflake, got up to one year…
10 new ideas for your Elf on the Shelf
Day 1 – The Return
Chippy returned with another elf! Big decided to name her ‘Snowflake’ and she’s an apprentice elf, learning the ropes from Chippy. She arrived with a new advent calendar for Small – Big’s is the train and that he’s had for years!
Day 2 – Let’s Twist Again!
Chippy and Snowflake have been playing a game of Twister, with the other toys watching them get tied up in knots! (I know, it looks a bit rude, doesn’t it?!)
Day 3 – On Your Marks…
The elves had a sack race, cheered on from the sidelines by the toys!
Day 4 – New Balls Please!
Today the elves were hiding in the Christmas tree which they had decorated overnight, and they brought Big and Small new, personalised baubles.
Day 5 – Decorators
The children woke up to find the elves had done some more decorating, putting up decorations and a wall sticker. Snowflake had even decorated the gerbils’ tank with snowflakes!
Day 6 – Christmas Shopping
The elves had spotted Big’s addition to the shopping list on the fridge, so they jumped in their trolleys to go and stock up!
Day 7 – Magic Glitter
Today the elves returned with some teeny, tiny chocolates and some special magic glitter. I wonder what will happen if we sprinkle it on?…
Day 8 – They’ve Grown!
Wow! The magic glitter worked! The sweets have grown to full size! The elves have also been having fun with whoopee cushions!
Day 9 – I Want You!
The elves were found auditioning for the new series of ‘The Voice’. Who knew the Teletubbies are the new judges?! Tinky Winky and Dipsy obviously aren’t impressed…
Day 10 – It’s S-elfie time!
Today the elves turned up with some selfie photo props, all ready to take some s-elfies!
