Monday Motivation: Age only counts if you count it

Kel Blog, Monday Motivation Linky 16 Comments

Today is my birthday. I happen to share it with the man who said this:

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." Abraham Lincoln

Last year was a ‘big’ birthday for me, although I really don’t feel my age in my mind! I’m not too bothered about gaining another year today, but what I am bothered about is that I don’t feel as though I’m making the most of my years.

Another twelve months has gone, in the blink of an eye, and what do I have to show for it?

I have launched my new business, as well as really trying to make blogging my career, but, other than that, what can I say I’ve achieved in the last year? Not a lot.

Seeing this quote from my birthday buddy, Abe, has given me a bit of a kick today. This time next year, I want to ignore the rise in number, and I want to write about how I’ve given my 42nd year life.

It’s my turn to host The Monday Motivation Linky this week! I would love to read your posts and share them, so please do see if you have something suitable to link up. Remember, we’re looking for posts that have an uplifting, positive, motivational theme!

My two favourite posts from last week’s linky hosted by Autism Mumma were:

  • This lovely poem, from Liberty on the Lighter Side, all about how sometimes we need to stop and just ‘be’. I think that sometimes, we get so caught up with life and all that goes on, that we forget to stop, take a breath and just live!
  • This motivating post from Kate on Thin Ice, giving us some ideas on how we can boost our self-esteem. I especially like the idea of nurturing myself!

If you have a post you’d like to link up, please add it below. It was lovely to see a couple of Instagram posts last week too, so don’t forget you can link yours up here too, and don’t forget to include the hashtag #TheMMLinky on Instagram! Also, grab your badge code from my sidebar over on the right to add to your blog posts.

Setting up a new business and focussing on your blog (a full time job if done properly) are two really big achievements in one year. Having the confidence to launch a new business or project takes a lot of guts and I am sure it is not something you just said “oh let’s do this” and then it was done. There will have been hours of thinking about it, fearing you were not good enough and then overcoming that fear to launch it. Be proud, Mrs. It’s huge and takes guts to do what you have done in just one… Read more »

You know, it’s all about perspective – look at how much Tink and H have grown in the past year… that’s down to your nurturing of them! Look at how much you’ve achieved with your blog and starting your own business, and the new friends you’ve found through it. I reckon you’ve got a lot to be proud of my lovely. <3 #TheMMLinky

Happy Birthday! I’d never seen that quote before and I really like it. But it sounds like you actually achieved quite a bit last year! Setting up an new biz and starting a new career are pretty amazing things x #mmlinky

Can’t wait to see what this year brings! I love that quote, I think I’ll keep that in mind x

Super person to share a birthday with! Good quote and thanks for reminding me of it as today I was reminded of a friend who died aged just 21 and felt a bit sad even though many years ago now and then your quote reminded me how very much she made of those years. #MondayMotivationLinky

Wow thanks for picking my post! And a very BIG happy Birthday to you 🙂 I love that quote too and I agree, the older I get, the more I realise there’s still so much I want to do and places I’d love to latest post is based on that really! #TheMMLinky
