If like me you’re in England, you’re probably counting down the days to when the kids go back to school.

It’s not that we don’t love them, and it’s not that we don’t want to spend time with them, but, for parents like me, who don’t go out to work, it’s a looooong six weeks! There’s no escape! Quiet time is limited to about an hour in the evening and it’s impossible to get any housework done; as fast as you are cleaning and tidying, there’s a smallperson behind you messing it all up again!

And the food! I’m sure my food bill has tripled over the summer thanks to the constant demands for food and snacks from both of them (lunch at 10am, anyone?!). Their sugar intake has increased exponentially too.

So, while I am incredibly lucky and appreciative that I get to spend the entire summer with my offspring, I will be looking forward to the day they’re back at school, when I can get busy straightening the house and then maybe I can sit down with a hot cuppa and enjoy the sound of… nothing!

The constant chatter over school holidays can be really tiring and I know what you mean about the food bill, mine has definitely gone up too!!
