This week, my penultimate Weekly Wednesday Photo is of Small, dancing with a twirling ribbon…
Small attends a club for children with additional needs and disabilities, and it was the first night back after the summer break.
I could tell how much she’d missed it. I thought she might be tired from a long school day and all the travelling, but she’d managed to get herself a five-minute nap on the bus home, so she was raring to go!
The club is run by a local charity, Square Peg Foundation, who provide services for children with additional needs, including free stay and play sessions in school holidays, ‘Sensory Santa’ at Christmas time and access to their mobile sensory bus, which Small loves! They also sell disability awareness clothing and have two caravans which are adapted for disabilities.
We’re very fortunate to be able to access such services and events so that Small can learn new skills and play in an environment free from the stares and judgment we, unfortunately, see elsewhere.
Please come and share your favourite photo of the last 7 days over on Instagram, using the hashtag #WeeklyWednesdayPhotoSRS so I can find you – I’d love to see them and know more about the story behind them!
