This week’s photo is of me at McDonald’s.
I may have a smile on my face, but I was totally out of my comfort zone! This was the first ‘event’ of this kind I’ve attended since starting this blog last autumn. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I kept thinking that someone was going to spot that I was clueless and expose me as a fraud!
However, what I found (once I’d taken a deep breath and entered the restaurant) was a group of very friendly people who quickly put me at ease. I met some lovely fellow bloggers as well as the McDonald’s team and their PR people.
I am socially awkward. I’m not good at small talk. I get overwhelmed easily. Things like this scare the pants off me. However, being offered opportunities like this feels exciting, and different, and so far removed from my usual day-to-day life that I can’t pass them up. So, I have to grab them when they come by.
After all, it’s not every day you get to wear a McDonald’s uniform and make your own Big Mac (unless you work there, obvs!)
