The Monday Motivation Linky #11 – World Kindness Day

Kel Monday Motivation Linky 16 Comments

Today (Monday, 13th November) is World Kindness Day. I’m a big fan of being kind; it costs nothing, is nice to be on the receiving end of, and it feels pretty good to dish it out too! I think it’s so important to teach our young people to be kind too, which is something I wrote about a little while back.

So, to celebrate today, I’m going to do a few Randon Acts of Kindness (RAKs). I believe in karma; as Princess Diana said, “Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”

I’d love you to join in too. Here are nine ideas to get you started:

  • Buy flowers at the shops and give them to a passing stranger
  • Buy a drink for the person behind you at the coffee shop
  • Give a stranger a lotto ticket or scratchcard
  • Buy food or a hot drink for a homeless person
  • Hold open a door, or let someone go ahead of you in the queue
  • Compliment a stranger
  • Donate to a food bank or charity collection
  • Hide a £5 note inside a book in the bookshop
  • Cook for an elderly relative or neighbour

So, will you give it a try? Doesn’t even have to be today – just try a RAK spontaneously. Make someone smile and feel the warm, fuzzy glow! Let me know in the comments if you do.

9 ideas for Random Acts of Kindness (RAKs) that you could do on World Kindness Day!

Some fab RAK ideas, if I’ve bought an all-day bus ticket and I’ve finidhed my journey, I give it to someone waiting at the bus stop.
We had a RAK at D’s school recently where an ex teacher of hers bought in some flute books that she had as she’d heard D playing, really kind of her x

I definitely need to do more RAKs. I love these ideas, especially the book one as I’m quite socially awkward so I’d rather be able to be kind and run! #thelistlinky

I have done a few of these but there are a few I am going to try. A compliment can go such a long way. Earlier this year we were on the way back from a long weekend and I had three smallish tired children in an airport (say no more) and a lady just came up to me out of no where and said ‘Wow you are an amazing mum’ it has stuck with me ever since

I love your idea for RAKs, although I don’t believe in karma, I do believe that being kind is it’s own reward x

I love giving umbrellas to people when it’s raining. It’s one of my favourites. #themmlinky

Love that Princess Di quote.

And she said that “I feed my boys love and affection – it’s so important”.

And she did this for the whole world too.

Those are lovely ideas, it’s amazing how small acts spur one another along to do the same. Thanks for this inspiring post. #TheMMLinky
